Fr. Abel Modi Nyorko of the Comboni Missionaries from the Catholic Juba Archdiocese died on Monday at the age of 77 at 10:30 am USA local time announced, Fr Louis Tony Okot, Provincial Superior in South Sudan.
He explained that the late priest was preaching the gospel in USA since 1997 after his ministry of Provincial Superior in South Sudan ended in 1995.
Fr Tony said the deceased died after 49 years as priest in the mission and was a formator of many local diocesan priests in the seminary of South Sudan and Sudan.
He said he will keep updating people after getting more information from Fr. Ruffino Ezama, Provincial Superior of the Comboni Missionaries in USA.
Provincial Superior in South Sudan, Fr Louis Tony Okot, prayed that ‘May the almighty God receive Fr. Abel Modi Nyorko in his Kingdom’.
Fr Modi died when Comboni missionaries were on June 01 celebrating the feast of the founding of St Daniel Comboni Institute in 1867, marking 153 years of announcing the gospel in different parts of the world.
