Hai Fahal Block [A] chief in Wau north opposes the presence of the quarantine Centre in his area, describing it as ‘A decision taken without consultation’.

James Mangu points out that the alteration of the Primary Health Care Centre into a quarantine place is against the rights of the citizens living in Block [A].

He regrets that the Primary Health Care Centre was providing medical assistance to the people.

Mangu says anyone residing in Block [A] is not comfortable with the decision taken by the state taskforce to turn the health centre in to a quarantine place.

Chief Mungu argues that the selection of the quarantine Centre was not realistic because it is located in the middle of Souk Hajar, one of the congested markets in Wau town.

He adds that the state taskforce on coronavirus should have consulted the people living in the area to get their opinion first before making any decision.

On the other side, the chairperson of the state taskforce on coronavirus clarifies that the quarantine Centre of Hair Mukhtar is selected because of its geographical location in the middle and close to the town.

He adds that it will be easy for the concerned authorities to provide security and assistances to patients and people suspected of the virus.

After the concerns of the chief, the state taskforce on coronavirus did not change its decision.
