United Nations Population Fund or UNFPA, and Crown the woman a local organization, has launched a toll-free number to provide referrals services for survivors of gender-based violence or GBV across South Sudan.
GBV survivors can dial 623 and report cases of domestic violence and also get free counselling.
UNFP says the nationwide service is accessible 24 hours, seven days a week by anyone experiencing any form of GBV, sexual abuse, child and forced marriages.
UNFPA says GBV remains one of the biggest humanitarian crises in South Sudan even before the outbreak of COVID-19.
The UN health agency says movement restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 may increase GBV cases across the country.
