Muslims community in Yei celebrates the holy feast of Ramadan with no communal prayers like the previous years due to coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Radio Easter Secretary General of the Islamic council Ali Mogga says this year’s celebration has been unique because Muslims did not congregate to break fasting or pray together.

He notes that they have been praying and breaking the fast individually at their home which is very unusual in the Islam faith.

The secretary general mentions during Ramadan season Muslims come together to share and help the needy but due to the pandemic this has not been possible.

Meanwhile Sheik Rajah Sebit describes the celebration as a day of peace, joy and love among Muslims community.

Sheik Sebit prays that Allah may heal the earth from the virus and all places of worship may open for both Christians and Muslims.

The speakers made the remarks to Radio Easter in Yei.
