Police said a twenty-year-old girl on Saturday was beaten to death by her brothers who did not want her to marry a man who impregnated her.
According to anonymous report, the girl was beaten when she refused to take another man who the brothers proposed to be her husband, but insisted to marry the one who impregnated her, Good News Radio reported.
Police spokesperson Captain Elijah Mabor Makuac said the culprits who were involved in the beating are apprehended and will undergo investigations.
Captain Makuac angrily advised families to stop forced marriages and beating of their daughters for dowries.
Civil Society Representative Gabriel Mabor Mangar condemned the killing and called on investigators to make proper inquiries in line with the bill of rights.
This is the third time in Lakes region where beatings related to forced marriages led to death.
Similar incidents also happened earlier last year and this year in former Eastern Lakes and Gok States.
