Unwanted pregnancies and elopement is on increase in Rumbek due to lockdown

Executive Director for Girl’s Empowerment and Orphans Care Organization or in Lakes State says elopement and unwanted pregnancies among school girls is on increase in Rumbek due to the lockdown in the country.
 
According to Good News radio, Elizabeth Anon Makur says her office has been receiving cases related to early pregnancies and marriages.
 
She advises parents to keep their girls engaged in other activities that will not allow them think of marriage or involve in sexual related activities that will hinder their studies during this time of lockdown.
 
Makur urges country leaders to think about the education of children amidst fears of COVID-19.
 
As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, it’s not known when the country will lift the lock down and reopen schools.
 
Last week, the South Sudan High-Level Taskforce for COVID-19 extended the country’s partial lockdown indefinitely.
