The Ministry of Justice issued an order suspending initiations of criminal proceedings for 30 days due to some offences.
Police Commissioner of Western Equatoria State after the formation of the new government, Major General James Mande Enoka said the order is to prevent spread of Covid-19 among those arrested and prisoners, Anisa Radio reported.
The commissioner outlined the cases that were exempted from the order whose proceedings will continue in line with the guidelines on prevention of covid-19 as issued by the high level taskforce.
Major General Mande clarified that court sessions will continue with the sessions, urging those attending the court sittings to observe the social distancing guidelines.
Commissioner Enoka was speaking to Anisa Radio in Yambio.
