Residents of Napere area in Yambio, Western Equatoria have raised their concerns that they are getting harassed by soldiers’ wives whenever they fetch drinking water in the nearby borehole.
According to Anisa Radio, the residents accused soldiers under the command of General James Nando of SSPDF who earlier defected to the government from SPLM-IO.
The residents also accused them of violating local order whereby someone who comes first is supposed to be the first to fetch water, claiming that the women do not follow the law.
But when Radio Anisa contacted Nandu in regards to the allegations, he said soldiers at his area do not have wives unless girlfriends.
He asked the locals to report directly to him if the girlfriends are disturbing them so that disciplinary measures can be taken.
