Inter-communal fight left 16 dead and 26 wounded in Rumbek East

Police confirms sixteen people lost their lives and twenty-six others wounded in an armed attack among rural youth in Rumbek East County of Lakes State on Saturday.
 
Police Spokesperson Captain Elijah Mabor Makuac tells Good News Radio that the fighting took place at Malek cattle camp.
 
One police man was also reportedly killed as police commissioner went to disperse the fighters, he adds.
 
Captain Mabor explains that the fighting between Kook Awac and Dur Sections of Rumbek East County was ignited by influence of alcohol by certain group of young people.
 
He discloses that the police commissioner rescued children and women when fighting broke out.
 
There have been frequent attacks and cattle raids around suburbs of Rumbek over the years, something state government have been describing as difficult to control situation.
