‘Ministry of finance should avail 3month arrears of SSPD forces’, says official

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs says Ministry of Finance should avail three months arrears to soldiers to improve on their socio-economic lives during this difficult time of coronavirus pandemic.
 
Angelina Teny in her press briefing on Friday explains the salary will help forces to stock food for their families because Covid-19 situation may not end soon with the partial lockdown in the country.
 
She adds the amount outstanding is from the past months for the SSPDF soldiers.
 
‘The wages we are requesting is from the past months. The last time the forces were paid was December last year. That’s why we want the ministry of finance to collaborate and ease the work for our forces because of the national emergencies which is now a crisis’, she stresses.
 
Whereas, Deputy Defence Minister Malak Ruben discloses that people are being smuggled into the country along the borders which may result to suspected cases and pauses a challenge to security forces on duty.
 
He urges the public to follow the preventive measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
 
The deputy minister adds the security committee on Covid-19 will continue to work on awareness rising and other programs.
 
Currently, South Sudan have four confirmed cases of coronavirus as most samples tests negative according to the national taskforce on Covid-19 presser on Sunday.
