East African Business Community or EACB recommended that head of states facilitate the use of passenger aircraft for cargo-only operations, including the re-positioning of air cargo flight crews.

In a statement CRN got on Saturday, it called on EAC to adopt and direct the implementation of International Air Transport Association guidelines for ground handling during COVID-19 crisis.

EABC wants EAC to consolidate air cargo and cooperation between EAC airlines, allows flexibility in scheduling and encourages equitable share for airlines.

It urges Head of State to reduce operating costs, landing fees, remove duty on aviation fuel, navigation, landing, parking and COVID-19 related fees.

The EA Business Community suggests that EAC Partner States fully adopt and implement draft regulations on the liberalization of air transport services

It recommends the EAC Partner States to harmonize landing fees, cut out aviation fuel, navigation, landing, parking and other related fees across the EAC region.

The Business group appeals to Partner States to improve air transport logistics and infrastructure, security and interconnectivity to attract high capacity carriers.
