EAC deploys mobile laboratories and testing kits to all partner states

The East African Community or EAC deploys nine (9) mobile laboratories and Coronavirus test kits to all Partner States in a bid to detect and respond to the highly infectious diseases.
 
Speaking to the media the Secretary General, Amb Liberat Mfumukeko says each partner state would receive a vehicle fitted with laboratory and a fully functional laboratory with the capacity to tests Coronavirus and Ebola.
 
The Secretary General mentions Burundi will receive one vehicle, Rwanda one, South Sudan one, Kenya two Uganda two and Tanzania two vehicles.
 
Ambassador Mfumukeko stresses in addition to the Mobile Laboratories, the EAC Secretariat has also provided COVID-19 test kits, Personal Protective Equipment or PPE including gloves, gown, mask, goggles, shoe protectors, and other consumables to the Partner States.
 
He adds the EAC Secretariat has trained a total of 18 laboratory experts from the Partner States who are certified proficient users on the operation of the Mobile Laboratories.
 
The Secretary General thanked the Government of Germany through the German Development Bank for funding the EAC Mobile Laboratory Project at this critical moment when the community is battling with COVID-19.
