IDPs sheltering at St Mary Catholic Church are calling on the state government and well-wishers to support them in constructing houses or otherwise they will live in the street of Wau.
Their call came after Wau Catholic Church administration told them to quit the compound to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Voice of Hope Radio reported.
These IDPs are identified to have come from the former Jur River Counties of Mapel, Rojrojdong, Alor and Kuarjena due to insecurity.
One of the IDPs said she ran away from her village due to conflict and that she does not know anybody in Wau town to stay with.
She regretted that there is nothing for free and nobody will allow anyone to stay in his or her house without renting.
Another IDP mentions that conflict is still ongoing in the areas of Jur River Counties making it hard for them to go back.
Wau Catholic Church administration decided that the entire St Mary Cathedral compound be free from IDPs starting on Sunday as a precautionary measure to fight corona virus.
