NCA threatens to arrest and prosecute those misleading public with fake news

The National Communication Authority or NCA warned that any person found misleading the public with fake news will be apprehended and prosecuted for offending NCA and Media Authority Acts 2013.
 
NCA Director-General Dr Lodu Wani Kenyi in his Public Advisory Notice dated 08/04/2020, accused some individuals of creating, transmitting and circulating fake stories to misinform people.
 
He said NCA has observed increase of misinformation and publication of fake news through the social media to make people panic and incite violence.
 
The Director-General advised members of the public to be vigilant and ensure that all information they get are not distorted and complies with the existing laws of South Sudan.
 
Dr Wani said people should rely on information released by official sources before believing and sharing with other persons.
 
He pledged that NCA management is committed to safeguard, monitor and regulate communication services in the country.
