Citizens in Tonj on Thursday said God worshipping places should not be closed due to corona virus before the disease is detected in the country.

They told Don Bosco radio that it is only God who can save people in difficult movements of the pandemic.

Cirillo Chol Chan explained that it is through prayers that God can prevent the virus from reaching South Sudan.

The government should only make other possible measures to control the virus to enter in the country, he suggested.

Chol added that through prayers, God protected South Sudan from Ebola though it borders DRC Congo.

Christopher Akuwel recommended that the national government should put security personnel in the borders not to allow any person entering the country as all the neighbouring countries are infected by the virus.

He said the church should be free so that Christians can raise their voices to God to grant protection and blessing from this deadly virus.

It is only prayers that can help us from this virus, therefore worshipping places should have been left open for the faithful Christians to express their sufferings because our country has not yet record any case of virus and it is through the prayers of Missionaries and the poor people in South Sudan’, the citizen noted.

The citizens gave their views on Thursday in Tonj.
