The Head United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Wau branch Wau Sam Muhamuri urged the internally displaced persons to leave the protection of civilians sites or POCs before the corona virus outbreak.
He said due to lack of enough space in POCs and other camps in Western Bahr el Ghazal, it will be very hard to practice social distancing recommended by World Health Organization and national Ministry of Health.
Muhamuri stressed that it will be very difficult to prevent the spread of the corona virus if there is a case confirmed in South Sudan because in POCs people are overcrowded.
He pointed out that World Food Program and other partners will continue to support internally displaced persons.
Head of UNMISS field office in Wau appealed to the IDPs to strongly consider the appeal and implement it for their safety.
Wau POC initially accommodated over 25,000 people with many other people in different collective sites in Wau.
Head of UNMISS field office in Wau was talking during Saut-El-Sabah program on Voice of Hope Radio.
