South Sudan Red Cross or SSRC has mobilized and trained 1,400 volunteers deployed in seventeen 17 branches and units of SSRC across the country.

The volunteers will engage with their communities on how to prevent and protect themselves from COVID 19.

SSRC Secretary General John Lobor says they have trained 47 volunteers in Juba and 52 others in Maridi who are now deployed.

Other volunteers in Yei, Nimule, Kuajok, Kapoeta, Torit, Wau, Ikwotos, Bor and Yambio were orientated on COVID 19.

Trainings and deployment will continue in other branches and units of SSRC in the country.

John Lobor points out that the volunteers are trained on the basics of the corona virus such as sign and symptoms and prevention measures.

He adds for safety purpose the volunteers will be using speakers and mega phone to spread prevention messages and posters will be distributed and attached at different locations.
