High-level taskforce closes airport, borders except cargo flights due to Covid-19

The High-level Taskforce Committee decided to close Juba International Airport and all borders to from Juba, but food cargo flights are exceptional to prevent covid-19.
 
Ministry of Health Undersecretary, Dr Makur Matur Koriom told the media on Monday that there is risk in continuing operations of regional flights from and to South Sudan due to corona-virus.
 
Dr Matur said passenger busses will stop their trips to and from South Sudan and only cargo busses and fuel tankers will be allowed.
 
He complained that some senior government officials and individuals from the public are not complying with the presidential orders to implement the medical examination of covid-19 that installed at the airport.
 
Members of organized forces and national security personnel are tasked to take the required action if there is violation occurred against the health orders, he added.
 
The taskforce allocated three million to cater for South Sudanese students at the affected countries, Dr Koriom revealed.
 
The Health Taskforce urged the public and the traders not to panic over closure of the borders as goods trucks will enter the country.
 
The high-level taskforce was formed on March20, 2020 by President Salva Kiir on Covid-19 consists of 16 members under his leadership and deputized by Dr Riek Machar the First Vice President plus other senior officials in the government.
 
South Sudan and Burundi till today is Covid-19 free, yet the virus is infecting and killing big population globally.
