More than 60 cases of rape pending for trials in Wau High Court

The president of Wau High Court confirmed that there are 67 cases of rape under trial in Wau high court.
 
Bang Atong Onwar said the relative of the victims have no right to compromise each other because the laws will not accept that compromise.
 
Ngifack Justin the rule of laws officer for UNDP called on the judiciary to pass deterrent exemplary judgment like 10 to 12 year imprisonment on the perpetrators of rape.
 
Justin said rape is a criminal act that is not negotiable at the level of the community once it is being reported.
 
He urged the judiciary to really put strong judgment on the case of rape in order to stop this shameful act in our country.
 
The speakers made the remark to Voice of Hope Radio after the rule of laws forum meeting today.
