Director in Eastern Equatoria State Ministry of Health Dr. Elijio Omoro disclosed forming a taskforce for corona virus preparedness and response.
He told Radio Emmanuel that the team has been assigned to identify and highlight responsibility of each partner in preparedness and response to the pandemic.
‘There is a taskforce which is already formed at the national level and at the state level and I think with the help of our partners we are prepared of course with viral infection the best thing is to isolate the patient and prevent the spread of the illness itself. This is the best thing we do and then the patience is also given some supportive treatment and hopefully with time should be able to recover but we already have a taskforce which has been given the duty to try and come up with some terms of reference and form some subcommittees which actually take care of any eventuality’, Omoro revealed.
The director urged citizens to always observe basic hygienic practices to prevent the viral infection and avoid going to crowded places although there are no confirmed cases of COVID -19 in South Sudan.
‘I think the best thing is to have basic hygienic practice like washing your hand and taking care of the human waste this are really basic hygienic practice and then avoid crowding going to places where people are crowded’, he cautioned.
‘As I said in the beginning if you have symptoms like cold, running nose and coughing you should avoid mixing yourself up with the public, is better you keep yourself at home this are recommendations from the ministry of Health itself perhaps if you are an official you can take off some days until you recover these are the basic things which we can do I think to protect ourselves’, he Omoro explained.
The director was talking to Radio Emmanuel on Wednesday in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State.
