Western Bhar El Ghazal State Ministry of Education in Wau has confirmed that it caught and detained some sellers for illegally selling the government textbooks in the state.
Director General, Luciano Alberto says the new textbooks that were distributed by the ministry to schools are now being sold in the market.
Luciano stated that the ministry has caught and detained some of the sellers and that investigation is ongoing.
Director General regrets UNICEF’s affords of assisting the ministry by distributing books to students two days ago but now the books are in the black market.
Alberto urges students and parents not to buy any UNICEF books or government textbooks in the market because the books are not for sale, and the ministry has set their securities personnel to follow that.
Luciano warns that anyone found selling UNICEF or government’s textbooks will face law.
The Director General made these remarks to VoH Radio on Friday at the ministry of education premises in Wau.
