The Education authorities in collaboration with Plan International on Thursday launched a back to school campaign in Yei River County.
Basic needs of children include education, health and many others as their rights, Awil Hoji Ali, Head of UNICEF field office in Yei, told the gathering at Kinji Primary School, Radio Easter reported.
He stressed that a country and communities will not develop without education.
Hoji mentioned that UNICEF remains committed to continue supporting educational projects to ensure that the illiteracy rate in the country is reduced.
UNICEF is currently supporting 25 schools in Yei through Plan International and planning to extend the support to other counties including Morobo, Lainya and Kajo-Keji, the head of UNICEF Yei office, disclosed.
He called on the Ministry of Education and partners to work closely in order to mitigate and address some of the challenges which face the department of education.
The campaign aims at inclusiveness of every one in order to build a lifelong education system in the county and the nation at large.
