They are also taking proactive measures to protect their staff spread across more than 110 countries.

In a press statement issued today, CRS’ president and CEO Sean Callahan say they are doing everything possible to leverage their vast global footprint to prevent and mitigate the spread of the virus and its impact.

CRS director of safety and security Marieke van Weerden explains that they are monitoring the virus very closely and are taking all possible precautions to keep staff healthy.

At the same time, CRS is gearing up its response in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria and Cambodia.

Activities will include risk awareness and hygiene education campaigns, as well as the distribution of hygiene supplies like soap.

CRS, as well as the Catholic Church in the United States, stands in solidarity with all those affected by the coronavirus.
