The Vicar-General of Yei Catholic Diocese Fr Zachariah Angutuwa told faithful at Christ the King Cathedral that the 40 days of lent is preparing them for the long journey to heaven.
He explained that Jesus came to show the worshipers the reality of Christian living on Earth, Radio Easter reports.
Fr Angutuwa quotes Jesus saying despite food being essential man does not live on bread alone.
He stresses that the gospel of the Lord guides Christians with values of love solidarity and sacrifice of love for others.
‘God has given human beings brain to analyze situation and make a choice according to the teachings and Christian values’, Fr Angutuwa adds.
The catholic priest explains that Christians take short cuts to test God by praying for wealth and once it fails they begin to say God does not love them.
The Vicar general prays that the period of Lent helps Christians to reflect in many ways and daw them close to the almighty.
