Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO in partnership with UNMISS human rights division in Yei inaugurate transitional Justice Resource Centre.
Speaking during the event CEPO’s mediation manager Thon Jacob says the centre is going to act as a forum where victims will report cases of human rights violation during the crisis, Radio Easter Reports.
Jacob explains the centre is a provision within the Revitalized agreement on the resolution of the conflict in south Sudan or R-ARCSS
Thon reiterates the importance of establishing the centre because Yei is one of the areas most affected by the 2016 crisis.
He stresses that the centre will ensure those who committed atrocities will be held accountable for their act.
The mediation manager cites without transitional justice, victims will not be able to reconcile with perpetrators.
The objectives of the centre include raising awareness on transitional justice, equipping stakeholders with knowledge of transitional justice for institutional reform in the country.
Other objectives include documenting true stories of survivors and their witnesses during the conflict.
It is also meant to build confidence in survivors and vulnerable people to access justice and accountability.
