Catholic Diocese of Torit began its annual general assembly meeting 2019-2020 in Torit town.
According to Radio Emmanuel, the general meeting brought together priests, catechists and church leaders from different parishes of the diocese.
Torit Catholic Bishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla said the meeting aims at developing a road map of the diocese.
He thanked all parish priests, their assistants and some institutions for the warm welcome given to him during his pastoral visits to parishes.
Bishop Ameyu called on priests to commit themselves to evangelism so as to build a strong foundation in the church as proposed by Pope Benedict and Pope Francis.
He called for continuous renovation of the old buildings of church and houses of priests and sisters that were destroyed during the war.
On the part of Caritas Torit, the bishop called for transparency so that everyone can work together since Caritas was shut down due to difficulties from the donors
There is much need to reorganize Caritas Torit because it has done a lot of successful work in the community, he said.
The bishop made the remarks during the annual general diocesan assembly in Torit on Tuesday.
