Torit Ministry of Health and its partners on Thursday launched vaccination campaign against measles in the state.
According to Radio Emmanuel, the campaign aims to reach 375,000 children in the state and that the children will also receive vitamin A supplement and de-worming tablets.
Extended Program of Immunization Manager, Oler Charles Adelino said the campaign targets children of age six months to fifty-nine months
He called on parents to take their children for vaccination in nearby health centres.
Acting Director-General in the State Ministry of Health and Environment, Clementina Lubaya said the Launch is in response to measles outbreak in the state.
She advised the parents to allow their children to receive vaccines to protect them from being infected by measles.
Medical Director at Torit State Hospital, Santina Ikoki, advised all vaccinators to carryout immunization professionally.
She discouraged alcoholism during working hours.
Torit Minster of Health, Becky Ayaa Obong urged partners and government to joins hand in creating awareness to local communities on measles outbreak in the state.
She warned mothers against using traditional herbs which she said affects the health of the child.
South Sudan is still battling measles outbreak with over 4,700 confirmed cases and 26 deaths since January 2019 to date.
The campaign in a national campaign that will run in two phases: First phase expected to cover almost 70 percent of the counties in the former states while the second phase will cover the remaining counties in Central Equatoria, Jonglei, Unity and upper Nile and end on 17 March 2020.
