Low and delayed incentives forces teachers to desert teaching, directors say

Low and delay of salary for government teachers has forced some teachers to abandon teaching, said Anyala Timon Belan, Education Director in Lafon County of Torit State.
 
He told Radio Emmanuel that teachers in the area complain they are not able to support their families due to low and delayed government incentives.
 
Timon also pointed that school going children in the area has stopped moving for learning due to hunger and lack of teachers.
 
The director urged teachers to remain calm and have hope for peace in the country and that delay and low salary is a general issue South Sudan experiences.
 
He called on education partners to support teachers in the area to keep education running in the county.
 
The speaker made the remarks to Radio Emmanuel on Tuesday in Torit.
