The government of Torit State on Saturday launched the construction of Torit-Magwi road in Imurok Payam of Torit West County.

Speaking during the launch, Torit State Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo applauded Horiok community for improve security along road

He called on Horiok communities to continue living in harmony and unity for sustainable peace to prevail.

‘Horiok community the peace that we brought from Torit, you are the one who bring this peace and a lot of people confirmed that, even the traders that normally slept on the way because their vehicles broke down. No any message that there is a vehicle being looted on the road of Imurok, connected with Acholi community I never heard that there is a vehicle looted on the way, connected with Madi community we did not hear that any vehicle has been looted or so. This confirmed that the western part of Torit State is the peaceful community, Governor Alberio encouraged.

He added that ‘I do normally get challenges from eastern side of Torit state, this is the place where we concentrate with a lot of work and in that area the devil has planted a very big stool and he owns that place. No single week goes without a human bloodshed’.

Governor Alberio said the national government and the opposition groups are committed to the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement.

Alberio pointed out that ‘The conflicting issues in the implementation of the peace agreement are the number of states and boundaries’.

‘We are in the implementation of peace agreement that our President Salva Kiir Mayardit signed with opposition groups in Juba currently the implementation is ongoing, what we made only is security arrangements, the soldiers of IO and government soldiers are now in Owinykibul training centre they are now undergoing training but there is only one thing in the process of implementation of revitalized peace agreement which is in dilemma is the issue of states, the government stand for 32 states, but opposition says, let’s go back to 10 states’, he explained.

Torit-Magwi road construction is funded by World Food Program and supervised by Torit State government.

The condition of the roads during the past rainy season in the state, has been dangerous to users, especially traders as many trucks over turned with goods.
