The Deputy Head teacher of Loronyo Primary School is calling on the government to support in improving village school structures.
Milton Iburum Adelino says most schools in the villages were destroyed by heavy rain and wind, affecting children’s education.
‘We have started the registration and we beg the government to come and see us on February because now we are here suffering. The school was blown by wind. There is nothing so the government should come and assist us to renew our school. We don’t have chairs for sitting, tables were all taken, and that is my concern to the government’.
Mr. Iburum says the school also lacks scholastic materials.
He adds that lack of teachers’ incentives is another major challenge affecting learning in the village.
Mr. Iburum regrets that many teachers did not receive incentives since February last year.
‘So what we have been searching here, we don’t have school materials since last year. The school was closed because there were no children following up the teachers. We were staying there, but nobody could come to the school so the teachers were teaching themselves by themselves. We never received money since February last year’.
He appeals to the government and NGOs to support the school this year.
The Deputy Head Teacher was speaking to Radio Emmanuel during the pastoral visit of the newly appointed Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla in Loronyo.
