A senior police traffic officer in Lakes State urged the local government to bar foreigners from driving public service vehicles and taxi-bikes known as bodaboda.

Lakes State Director of Traffic Police Chol Arol told Good News Radio yesterday that he would like foreigners to be barred from driving public service vehicles.

He added in case of a fatal accident, foreigner drivers do not have cows to pay compensation.

Mr. Arol encouraged car owners to have their vehicles insured so that compensation is handled by insurance companies.

The Traffic chief denied claims that the traffic police officers were being tough with foreign drivers caught at fault, saying that all people are equal before the law.

Mr. Arol encouraged cordial relationships between Southern Sudanese and foreigners, acknowledging the assistance received from neighbouring countries.
