Governor of Torit State Tobiolo Alberio Oromo cautioned South Sudan People’s Defence Force soldiers to be professional as they prepare to go for training at Owinykibul.
While addressing the soldiers at Division Seven Barack in Torit, he warned the soldiers to cease from criminal activities such as rape among others.
Governor Alberio advised SSPDF soldiers to maintain discipline during training
‘Always I am telling you people that South Sudan is a member of UN but because our army is not organized, it is the reason why they have not put you in the peace keeping bodies in other countries. This issue, we want to see this year SSPDF is taken to another country so that it can protect peace in other counters’ that have war. The question is how will you go there? You must go well disciplined because many people, if they see SSPDF they say no, these are soldiers of rape. We don’t want to hear this issue’, he cautioned.
The Alberio advised that ‘this issue of rape has spoilt our name even though it is one person who has done it, they say it is SSPDF. This issue should be taken away because it has really spoilt your name as soldiers, let us follow the law’.
Alberio is hopeful that the reunification of forces is crucial to having one army in the country.
‘This law is in your hands and now we want a soldier who will understand a problem and follow the law. We want a professional army in South Sudan. We don’t want a soldier who will continue doing bad things which were done in the bush, we don’t want. It is the law that will guide us in our work’, he stressed.
