Sudanese Interim Prime Minister, Abdallah Adam Hamdok called on Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North faction led by Abdel Aziz Adam El Hilu to join the peace process taking place in Juba, South Sudan.
Voice of Peace Radio quoted him saying that all people of Sudan should be engaged in the building of the New Sudan.
He was talking during his remarkable visit to Kauda, Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan on Thursday.
Addressing a huge crowd in Kauda airstrip, Hamdok called on SPLM-North El Hilu leadership and all members of the armed resistance movement to join the peace procedures.
The Prime Minister emphasized that peace is a priority for Sudanese people as it helps in resolving economical crisis, enhancing women participation in government, fighting corruption and addressing root causes of war.
SPLM-North Leader, Abdul Aziz Adam El-Hillu, welcomed the visit of the Prime Minister in the liberated area that has been ignored by Khartoum government for so long.
El-Hillu described the visit as a sign of peace and goodwill to allow the humanitarian delivery in the SPLM-North liberated areas.
Dr Abdallah Adam Hamdok first visit to Nuba Mountains is significant as Sudanese government officials did not enter Kauda since the war broke out in June 2011.
Hamdok’s was accompanied by Norwegian Representative, Andrey Sizian, WFP Executive Director David Beasley, United States Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan Donald Booth, British and Canada Ambassadors to Sudan among others.
