Director of Forestry in the Ministry of Agriculture in Western Lakes State Paulino Mading Meen is urging the public to stop misusing woodlands as they provide people with fruits, timber and wood for fuel.

He says forest is the country’s natural resource that should not be mismanaged through random burning of grass and trees, Good News Radio reports.

Director Mading advises the general population to help the ministry in protecting the forest especially cutting of edible fruit trees.

He stresses the ministry issued a circular directing all cattle keepers who look for pasture to burn grass only in November and December.

Director Mading was speaking to Radio Good News on Wednesday in Rumbek, Western Lakes State.
