UPPER NILE’S 97.7 PERCENT VOTE IN FAVOUR OF SECESSION

Upper Nile referendum authorities announced that secession got the overwhelming majority of votes at the polls.

Public outreach officer Lem Peter Mabil said that 97.74 percent voted for secession and the turnout was about 98 percent.

Mr. Mabil said the vote was peaceful with no security threats registered in the 13 counties of Upper Nile state.

Mr. Mabil praised the voters of Upper Nile for the high turnout.

Hel appealed to the people to keep peace as they wait for the final results.
