The governor of Tonj State released six prisoners from jail on Thursday.
According to Don Bosco Radio, Mathew Mathiang Magoordit pardoned three males and three females from Rumbek central prison.
He says there are no reports of death in prison for the past year.
The Governor adds the government will work hard to make sure that inmates are treated well while serving their sentences.
Governor Mathiang assured prisoners that the government is working to address some of the issues that are facing them like lack of school for the dropouts to continue their education.
He also promised to look at the issues of prison hospital for the inmates.
Those who were pardoned expressed their gratitude to the governor for freeing them.
