Citizens in Wau State are complaining about high fuel prices in the market causing difficulties for local transportation to operate.

Motorcycle riders say, the increased prices has affected their business badly.

They urge concerned authorities to intervene on the issue and petrol stations should be opened in order to ease fuel shortages.

Meanwhile the town mayor Elizabeth Mario says increase in fuel prices and closure of some petrol stations is not the responsibility of municipality.

She explains that their mandate is to fight fuel on black markets.

The mayor mentions that fuel prices and availability in town or its storage is the responsibility of economic security authority.

An attempt by Voice of Hope Radio to get a response from the economic security authority on the matter was not successful.

The speakers made the remarks on Tuesday in Wau.
