Ministry of Education and UNMISS mark 16 days of activism

Western Lakes Ministry of Education and United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS on Friday marked 16 days of activism in the state.
 
The festival was celebrated with inter-school debate under the motion: ‘Early marriage is better than late marriage.
 
Minister Victoria Ayen Majok Deng appealed to the participants to end early and force marriage in the state.
 
Ayen revealed that young girls below 15 years are selling mandazi at the market, while their age mates are busy in the classrooms.
 
She called upon the government to set rules that will stop young girls from selling and buying in markets.
 
Head of UNMISS Human Rights Division John Oziegbe assured the government that UN will continue supporting ongoing peace process of South Sudan.
 
Security Advisor of Western Lakes State Makuer Mabor advised young people to take their education seriously as they will be future leaders of the country.
 
The 16 days of activism that run every year from November 25 to 10 December is a campaign to challenge the aggression against women and girls.
