A source who preferred to remain anonymous told SCR News that the two candidates decided not to stand as independent candidates after the SPLM Political Bureau chose Governor Clement Wani Konga as its candidate.
The source added that other two aspirants GoSS Presidential Adviser Alfred Ladu Gore and Mr. Abraham are under pressure to do the same and accept the SPLM candidate for the post.
Earlier last week Dr. Subek urged the SPLM Political Bureau not to nominate Mr. Konga for the governorship of the state.
Mr. Konga was one of the five successful serving governors the SPLM approved to run on its ticket in the April elections.
The others are Jemma Nunu Kumba, for Western Equatoria; Paul Malong Awan, for Northern Bahr el Ghazal; Taban Deng Gai, for Unity; and Kuol Manyang Juuk, for Jonglei.
