A young mother gave birth to a fetus with the intestines outside the abdomen in Paloc Primary Health Care Centre on Sunday.

Speaking on Thursday in Rumbek State Hospital, Isaac Mading Abiel, a midwife, said the fetus was born on 3rd November-2019.

The mother was referred to the state hospital but, the fetus unfortunately died before being attended to in the maternity ward.

Although the specific cause of abnormality of this fetus is not known, Mading says drugs intake during the first months of conception are believed to be common causes.

He pointed out that taking un-prescribed drug from untrained health personnel could result to such complications.

Abel added that genetic deformations and chemical factors that result from the use of weapons during the conflict could lead to reproduction of incomplete human nature.

The health worker advised pregnant women to avoid taking un-prescribed drugs when missing menstruation period to keep away from such abnormalities.

This is not the first time such a child was born with abnormalities. Twins were delivered conjoined in Kiir Mayardit Women Hospital in 2015.

Also last month, other conjoined twins were born in Rumbek State Hospital, but did not survive.
