Ceasefire Transitional Security Monitoring and Verification Mechanism or CTSAMVM reiterates disappointment to observe little progress by the government and SPLM/IO in vacating civilians’ buildings.

CTSAMVM Chairperson Major General Desta Abiche Ageno during a meeting on Tuesday said thirty-three buildings remain occupied by government forces and four by the SPLM/A-IO.

‘Again, CTSAMVM is disappointed to observe that there has been little progress in the vacation of occupied civilians’ buildings. The SSPDF has occupied the Bangoro Psychiatric Hospital near Ymabio. 33 buildings remain occupied by the government forces and 4 by the SPLM/A-IO. CTSAMVM considers each and every one of these occupied buildings to represent a violation to the Revitalized agreement’, he pointed out.

TGONU representative Major General Rabi Mujung Emmanuel also expressed dissatisfaction over the parties for not leaving the buildings.

‘We are also disappointed with the process of vacation of the civilians’ buildings’, he said.

However, South Sudan Opposition Alliance or SSOA representative, Major General David Nyang Kueth appreciated the parties for respecting the ceasefire.

Meanwhile SPLM/IO representative Major General Martin Abuja noted that there is insecurity in Maiwut which should be taken seriously.

He stressed that ‘we need to take note of continues mobilization of forces and demobilization of civilian areas. As we speak today, areas such as Maiwut are being destabilized. There is insecurity in those areas today. We need to take note of why this insecurity is happening in these areas. I would like to request that we have a full updated report of what is happening in the field areas’.

The officials were speaking during the 16th CTSAMVM Technical Committee’s meeting on Tuesday in Juba.
