Teachers at Pan-Barkou Girls Primary School escaped death after an angry parent who armed himself with AK47 started shooting at them over the weekend.

County Education Director Makuei Kocdong Dhuol confirmed on Monday that relative of a student accused a teacher of mediating between their daughter and the teacher.

No teacher was injured.

He condemned the act and called on community members to end attacking teachers.

The director confirmed that the attacker was caught and handed over to the police in the county after managing the matter.

Kocdong says they will look into the issue that caused shooting of teachers at the school premises.

He revealed plans to hold a meeting with the school girls to end issues of early marriage and avoid the repeat of such incidents in the future.

Kocdong said they have a policy that encourages girls to complete their education before marriage and they stick to that.

Schools in Western Bahr Naam County have suffered much due to insecurity in the area caused by two sectional communities of Gony and Thuyic, disclosed the director.

He said relative peace is returning in Malek Agok, Pachong, and Cuei-cok as communities are engaged in the peace process.

In September, some youth in the same area who were under alcohol influence shot a lorry loaded with school children and the driver managed to escape the area.
