GoSS President called on citizens not to pre-empt the referendum results concluded on Saturday and wait patiently for the independence.
Salva Kiir Mayardit urged the congregation at Saint Theresa’s Cathedral, in Juba, yesterday, to remain calm.He said some national institutions still hold north and south Sudan together and thereforeit is not suitable to declare independence before July.
Mr. Kiir thanked the people of southern Sudan for the high turnout in the referendum vote.
He praised citizens for their conduct during the referendum, saying he was impressed by the organization and discipline shown by the people of south Sudan to the whole world.
The southern Sudan referendum is being commended by the international and domestic observers as free, fair and organized.
