The United Nations Mission in South Sudan on Thursday commemorated the seventy-fourth anniversary at Freedom Square of Rumbek, Western Lakes State.
UNMISS Officer John Oziegde says the day helps them to recognize positive impact that the UN made in South Sudan and the Global.
He points out that the day reminds them about their mandate of peace maintenance, security all over the world and developing relationships among member nations.
Oziegde vows that they will continue providing humanitarian aid to the people of Western Lakes State, as well as support the revitalized agreement.
Meanwhile, Gender Affairs Officer Doris Sayde urges girls to stay in school and finished their education for a better future.
She wishes South Sudanese women to serve with the UN in other countries.
Director of Insurance and Education Promotion Gabriel Wade Mabec appreciates UNMISS for the work it has done in Western Lakes State especially in schools.
He requests UNMISS to build a reformatory school in the state to reduce street children.
The UN Day is celebrated worldwide on October 24 every year.
