Torit State launches University admission program

Torit State launches filling of admission forms for both public and private Universities to enable students continue with studies in higher institutions.
 
At least 879 candidates passed South Sudan Secondary School certificates and are expected to fill the forms.
 
Minister of Education Hassan Urbano Alex says his ministry is holding both public and private university admission forms as a means of bringing education services nearer to citizens.
 
He encourages students to continue with studies saying Government is fighting hard to minimize illiteracy in South Sudan.
 
‘We are launching the admission to government universities in the Republic of South Sudan. This is a very important day because for the first time the admission form for private and government Universities have reached Torit state. I think we have brought the service of Universities to Torit state to lessen the transport problem from Torit to Juba,’ the minister explains.
 
Mayor Juliana Momoi Choho encourages parents to send their children especially those who dropped out to join schools.
 
She appreciates primary and secondary school teachers for their tireless effort to improve performance in the state.
 
While Fermo Peter Isara, the commissioner of Torit County thanks the national Government for taking bold decision of taking services to people at grassroots.
 
He is hopeful that the presence of admission forms in the state will enable learners have access to join higher institutions.
 
The Minister of Education has announced that the admission forms will be available for two weeks.
 
The officials made the remarks during the declaration of University admissions forms at state Ministry of Education hall in Torit on Tuesday.
