Citizens are afraid of Riek Machar’s warning to the visiting UN Security Council members on Sunday in Juba.

Dr Riek Machar Teny warned on Sunday that the same issues of security arrangements and the number of states that they are discussing now were the ones that brought 2016 crisis’.

The citizens say they are afraid because they are tired of war. They support Riek’s appeal to extend the period to resolve the issues before forming the government.

‘I’m not feeling good. We have suffered a lot. Not suffering alone, but also our people died. Even many of them are now displaced. Let really not look at their self interest, but let them look into the suffering of this people of South Sudan because indeed, it is not good. Being a leader, now you have your people outside the country and even in the IDPs and the same people were the one who voted you {President Kiir} so that you may lead them in this nation. It is really shameful if this is really happening like that if they want to take us back to war. Let them find possible means to resolve then form the government, says one of the citizens.

‘Let them give him time {Riek} about the security issue and the number of states. That is very important. We want peace. We don’t want war again. We are suffering a lot. For me what Riek asked for, I support it because he wants enough time. Let them implement the one they agreed and go to next step because without Riek there will be no peace’ said Paul.

Dr Machar on Sunday called for the extension of the period to resolve the issues before the formation of the transitional government on November 12
.
‘We have critical issues that we want to be resolved. The security arrangements must be in place, at least half of the necessary force. Supposed we form the national government now, do you know what is going to happen? The ceasefire that we have been enjoying for this over a year will rapture. The same issues that we are discussing now, were ones that brought the crisis in 2016. Security arrangements, number of states. I would excuse you if you don’t know. But if you know, you are replicating 2016. Why would you want to replicate that?’, said Machar.

Meanwhile, R-JMEC in its meeting last week called on the parties to meet and resolve the outstanding issue of the number and boundaries of States without further delay.
