The UN children agency or UNICEF in partnership with the South Sudan Council of Churches are expected next Monday to launch the first faith-based social and behavior change conference in Juba.
The event is to address challenges of conflict situation and maximize opportunities for more positive and impactful influence to improve child and family wellbeing in the country.
The initiative will mark the beginning of UNICEF global plan to engage with faith-based communities and actors to influence positive social and behavior change for children.
The exercise will also bring together diverse partners from around the world including faith actors, government representatives, development partners and academics.
The occasion will also mark the celebration of the Convention on the Rights of Children
President Salva Kiir Mayardit is expected to grace the ceremony at Palm Africa Hotel in Juba.
Ministers of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare, Jemma Nunu Kumba, of Health, Dr. Riek Gai Kok and of Foreign Affairs Awut Deng Achuil are also anticipated to attend the occasion.
UNICEF Deputy Representative, Andrea Suley, Donor Community and WFP Representative will be there on Monday.
