Most polling centres in Rumbek town have passed the 60 percent threshold of the registered voters.
Freedom Square in the centre of Rumbek town has two polling stations. While in one station around two thirds of the registered voters have yet to cast their ballots, in the other over 60 percent had already voted by Thursday evening, Good News Radio reported.Golmeen voting centre is one of the best performing in Rumbek town. Dook Makeer, who manages the centre, said his station had collected the ballots of 87 percent of the voters registered in its books.
Peter Mabeny was one of the few voters at the polling centre. He said he was delayed because he came from a faraway cattle camp and had lost some cows.
Some closer to the voting centres had other excuses for the delay in voting: Joseph Marial forhis part said he had too many visitors on Sunday.
Officials urged those who have not voted yet, to cast their ballots before Saturday evening when the polling centres close for good.
