Corruption has worsened lives of poor people in the country, regrets a catholic priest in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek.

Fr. John Skinadan while preaching on Sunday told Christians that there is a lot of bribery in the country which made life difficult for vulnerable people.

‘A report came out this week from America about the high level of corruption in South Sudan. It didn’t blame only the government of South Sudan. It also blamed American companies here and the Chinese who are bringing corruption in South Sudan and especially the corruption that has made lives worst for the poor people. There can be corruption at every level. We have food for our children at school. We have food for our children here in school and at the end if we have food left over, we like to give to our teachers to encourage them to teach deliberately. If you don’t give the food to the children, at the end of the day that is corruption. That is exploitation of the poor. So you can’t point your finger at the government or at Americans if you’re making corruption in your work or school or wherever you are’, the Father stresses.

The priest urges foreign embassies in South Sudan to do away with corruption.

He calls on the congregation to pray to become light to darkness of corruption.
