South Sudan Red Cross trains volunteers on First Aid

South Sudan Red Cross Torit branch in collaboration with International Committee of Red Cross has trained its volunteers on basic first aid a head of the celebration this month.
 
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel delegate from International committee of Red Cross Salloum Malacb says, the training is to enrich trainees with response during emergencies.
 
‘This First Aid Training is part of our coordination and cooperation with South Sudan Red cross where we conduct trainings to build the capacities and improve the response during emergencies. I believe emergencies happen everywhere and not only related to conflict but also traffic accidents, even home injuries while cooking all this can happen to anyone to everywhere.’ 
 
Meanwhile first aid officer of South Sudan Red Cross Jildo Otendo says it is the duty of his organization to provide emergency health services to the population.
 
He adds the training is a refresher to volunteers who usually respond to emergencies in the state.
 
‘Through the dissemination exercise that SSRC is conducting, it will educate more people in the community. To respond during emergencies as well as during public events our volunteers are able to offer first aid services to the public during events.’
 
The training drew 21 volunteers, eight females and 13 males.
